The Tattoo Process
THE TATTOO
PROCESS
From the first idea to the final tattoo, every piece goes through a personal process. Here’s what you can expect.
- 01
BOOKING YOUR APPOINTMENT
It starts with your idea. When requesting an appointment, you can share your references, inspiration and any thoughts you already have about placement and size.
- 02
CONSULTATION
If you’d like to discuss your idea in more detail beforehand, you can book a consultation. We’ll talk about your concept, placement, size and what will work best for your body.
- 03
CREATING THE DESIGN
On the day of your appointment, I create the design based on the references and ideas you’ve shared. This allows me to create something personal that works specifically for you and your body.
- 04
PLACEMENT & SIZE
Once the design is ready, we decide on the final size and placement together. I’ll make sure the design follows the natural shape and flow of your body.
- 05
THE STENCIL
The final design is printed as a stencil and applied to your skin. We take a moment to check the position, proportions and overall look. Nothing starts until you’re completely happy with it.
- 06
TATTOOING
Once you approve the stencil, the tattooing begins. During the process, a thin layer of petroleum jelly is used to help protect the skin and keep the area workable while tattooing.
- 07
REST & PHOTOS
When the tattoo is finished, the skin gets some time to calm down. Once the initial redness has settled, I’ll clean the tattoo and take a few photos of the finished piece.
- 08
SECOND SKIN
After the photos, the tattoo is covered with a protective Second Skin. This creates a barrier over the fresh tattoo during the first stage of healing. I generally recommend leaving the Second Skin on for around 2 days, unless instructed otherwise.
- 09
AFTERCARE
After removing the Second Skin, gently wash the tattoo with clean hands, lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat it dry with a clean towel and allow it to breathe. Once the tattoo is clean and dry, apply a very thin layer of Bepanthen Tattoo around twice a day, or follow the specific aftercare instructions provided to you. Avoid soaking, swimming, excessive sun exposure and picking or scratching the tattoo while it heals.
- 10
HEALING
Your tattoo will continue to settle and heal over the following weeks. Some dryness, flaking and light itching can be part of the normal healing process. Take care of it, give your skin time, and let the tattoo become part of you.
